Raleigh, North Carolina September 28, 2004 — Emergency Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of enterprise software solutions for medium and large fire departments and EMS agencies throughout the United States, announced today that the City of Oklahoma City signed a contract which included its Visual Fire software and services.
Emergency Technologies’ integrated Visual Fire application includes Fire Records Management, EMS Patient Reporting, Mobile Field Reporting, Mapping, Hydrant information and Structural Pre-Plans, along with several additional modules that will provide the OK Fire Department (OCFD) with modern technology that will increase operational efficiency throughout the department.
Field Reporting will aid the Department in reaching a paperless environment by streamlining Fire Department activities. Inspectors will be able to complete building inspections while in the field. Responding Fire Fighters will be able to review building pre-plan information, including what hazardous materials are on-site, while in route to an incident. The ability to see what hazards are in a building before making entry will significantly increase Fire Fighter safety and help prevent injuries and fatalities.
The Visual Fire suite, which is developed using familiar and proven Microsoft technology, operates on industry standard Windows 2000 Server and SQL Server 2000 database.
“ETI is honored to be part of the project and we look forward to a long-term partnership with OCFD and to moving ahead with the project.” said Gar Keaton, President of Emergency Technologies, Inc.
The Oklahoma City, OK Fire Department consists of more than a thousand employees who provide services for approximately a half million citizens over an area of 621 square miles. OCFD responds to more than 52,000 calls for service a year.
The implementation of the Fire Records Management System is part of a large City-wide public safety technology project. The $18.8 million dollar project is led by Affiliated Computer Services, Inc (ACS) and encompasses: a new computer-aided dispatch system, a police records management system provided by SmartCop, a high-speed WIFI communications between the City's data center and the mobile police and fire vehicles by Tropos and mobile computers for police and fire vehicles provided by Panasonic. The software and hardware is projected to be operational by July 2005 with complete installation by December 2005.
