ETI partners with the American Red Cross to Certify Employees in CPR, First Aid and AED

Emergency Technologies, Inc. partners with the American Red Cross to Certify Employees in Adult, Infant and Child CPR, First Aid and AED

Raleigh, NC - October 30, 2009 – Emergency Technologies, Inc. (ETI), a leading provider of Fire and EMS software solutions, is pleased to announce that their staff received training in medical emergency preparedness and response by instructors from the American Red Cross.  Approximately 85% of ETI’s employees are now certified in Adult, Child, and Infant CPR, First Aid and AED.

Through the Triangle Area Chapter of the American Red Cross, participating employees completed the Red Cross blended learning program which consisted of web-based courses and followed up by a hands-on skill session for cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for adults, children and infants; Basic First Aid; and automated external defibrillator (AED).  Participants learned how to recognize and respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies and other emergencies caused by injury or sudden illness.  The training covered basic skills essential to helping in an emergency until professional responders arrive and can take over more advanced care. During the two-hour skills session, ETI staff received hands-on training from a Red Cross instructor in CPR, basic first aid and use of an AED.

To earn CPR, Basic First Aid and AED certifications, participants passed the online test and then reviewed skills with a Red Cross Trainer during the on-site skills session. The CPR and AED certifications are valid for 1 year. The Basic First Aid certification is valid for 3 years.

American Red Cross personnel train and certify approximately six million people each year through several courses, which are available daily at the 700 Red Cross chapters across the nation.
